An aqueous foam, consisting of gas bubbles surrounded by a continuous liquid phase, has high interfacial area, high effective viscosity and low density, and thus finds many applications. Foams exhibit an elastic response at low strain, and at high strain exhibit a yield stress that also depends upon bubble size and liquid fraction.
I will describe the basis of methods for modelling foam flow, illustrated with different numerical methods depending on the anticipated strain-rate and liquid fraction. Applications will include varicose vein sclerotherapy and in-situ foam generation in porous media.
