The incursion of physicists into the economists playground has a long history already, specially in the field of finance, first due to the application of the statistical mechanics framework in the valuation of financial instruments and, more recently, on other specific issues of the economy in general. Nevertheless, it is assumed in Economics that physical modeling is useful for a few very specific problems and some skepticism exist on the validity of physics inside the Economics domain. In this talk we will discuss Economics as a physical model and how this physical model can provide relevant help on both descriptive and prescriptive modeling on Economics, showing also some results from our research.
