In my talk I will present theory and data related to the issue of the hierarchical organization of semantic memory. In particular, I will present behavioral data obtained with healthy subjects, fMRI data with healthy subjects, behavioral data from neuropsychological patients and data from computational modeling that converge to support a particular theoretical hypothesis regarding the organization of superordinate and basic level information in semantic memory.
