Measurements of the W boson and top quark masses and their implications on the Higgs searches

The search for the Higgs boson is currently one of the major efforts of the High Energy Physics experiments. Direct searches have excluded Higgs boson masses up to 114 GeV. Indirectly, the precision measurements of the W boson and top quark masses, can be used to constraint the range of possible values of the Higgs boson mass. In the case that the Higgs boson would be found, precision measurements of the W, top and Higgs masses will be very important to verify the internal consistency of the Standard Model. In this talk I will review the current experimental status of the precision measurements of the W boson and top quark masses and their implications on the Higgs searches. The prospects for the measurements of the W and top masses at the LHC will also be presented.
