Recent developments in the proteosome field have demonstrated that more than 75% of protein research is focused only on 10% of the proteins that were known before the genome was mapped. The rest of expressed proteins have not been investigated so far, despite many of them are associated with relevant diseases for humankind. Then an increasing demand both for a more efficient and selective protein purification methodologies at low-cost, as well as for extending protein’s activity repertoire in terms of the variety of substrates they are able to convert is expected in the bioindustrial world.
