A successful candidate will contribute to the development of a continuum model of self-propulsion in liquid crystalline environments. Then, he or she will apply the developed model to study interaction of a microswimmer with the nematic director field, describing the orientational ordering of the liquid crystal molecules, as well as interaction of an active particle with topological defects, i.e., singularities of the nematic director field.
