The Standard Model (SM) of particle physics provides a remarkably successful description of three of the four fundamental interactions, as well as of all elementary particles in the Universe. However, the SM is known to be an incomplete theory. For instance, it cannot account for the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe and does not provide a viable dark matter (DM) candidate. These shortcomings strongly suggest the existence of physics beyond the SM. In this work, I discuss several SM extensions that can provide additional sources of CP violation and/or viable DM candidates. In particular, we investigate different DM production mechanisms, such as freeze-out, freeze-in, and mixed scenarios, and develop a new numerical tool, RelExt, to efficiently explore the parameter space of generic SM extensions with DM candidates. Furthermore, we show how CP violation can be probed in Higgs production in association with top quarks at the LHC, as well as in the bosonic sector of extended scalar sector models.
