The stacking diagram of colloidal mixtures under gravity

The prominent observation in sedimentation-equilibrium experiments in colloidal mixtures is the stacking sequence. That is, the sequence of sedimented layers that appears in a test tube as a result of a balance between the gravitational and the internal forces. In this seminar we will present a new theory to relate the stacking sequences to the bulk phase diagram of the colloidal mixture. We group the stacking sequences in a stacking diagram that follows in a unique an invertible way from the bulk phase diagram.
