CFTC Summer School:
From Soft Matter to Stochastic Processes
The Condensed Matter Group at the Centro de Física Teórica e Computacional da Universidade de Lisboa is organizing a Summer School aimed at senior undergraduate and MSc students in July 18-22 at Instituto para a Investigação Interdisciplinar da Universidade de Lisboa.
The Condensed Matter Group covers a wide range of topics in modern statistical and computational physics, such as the physics of polymers, interaction of complex fluids and surfaces, colloids, packing, networks, and Langevin systems. The purpose of this summer schools is to give the students an overview of modern aspects of theoretical physics complemented by some computational methods necessary for the treatment of present challenges in statistical physics.
The lectures will be given by national and foreign experts that will provide an introduction into the main physical aspects of simple fluids, liquid crystals, granular materials, critical and percolating systems, and stochastic processes. Hands-on computer classes will give a unique learning opportunity to tackle exciting research problems.
The course is open for all interested students with at least beginning to moderate programming skills, and it is for free! Do not lose this opportunity and sign up now.
New! The deadline is over but there are still a few spots available for the morning lectures. Please fill the registration form if you are interested.
