Available postdoctoral position at the:
Centro de Fisica Teorica e Computacional da Universidade de Lisboa
A postdoctoral position will be available from January 2006 to work in computer simulations of protein folding with Dr. Patricia Faisca and Prof. Margarida Telo da Gama at the Centro de Fisica Teorica e Computacional da Universidade de Lisboa (http://cftc.cii.fc.ul.pt).
The successful candidate will contribute to one or more of the following
topics:
1) Investigate the microscopic origins of proteinlike cooperativity in small,
single domain two-state folders.
2) Study of the dependence of the nucleation mechanism on the native geometry
and on the proteinīs primary sequence.
3) Investigate the nature and the role of intermediate states in the folding
of large protein molecules.
Applicants should have a PhD in physics, applied mathematics, chemistry or engineering, with experience in scientific computing, preferably preferably Monte Carlo methods and/or Molecular Dynamics.
The Centro de Fisica Teorica e Computacional da Universidade de Lisboa is located in a recently extended and renovated building, on the main campus in the north of the city. The Centro has excellent computing facilities and a very good library.
Lisbon is a charming city with a medium to high cost of living. Salary is according to the University of Lisbon scale for post-docs (approximately 1500 euros per month). Reconduction for an additional year is possible.
Applicants should send a CV and two letters of recommendation as soon as possible, but no later than October 15, 2005 to:
